Rob J. Morgan is the pastor of The Donelson Fellowship in Nashville, Tennessee, where he has served for thirty-three years. He has authored more than twenty books, including The Lord Is My Shepherd, The Red Sea Rules, and Then Sings My Soul. Into this nightmare world of hurt and horror, Robert Morgan introduces the reality of biblical hope. Having walked in the reader's shoes both as a father and a deeply caring pastor, he guides the distraught parent or determined intercessor through the maze of emotions that leads to a clear view of God's saving mercies. The 108 chapters of the book are very brief and to the point, enabling the reader to sample prayers, hymns, Scriptures, and personal stories ... all designed to convey a healing measure of control. I keep my copy on the coffee table for helpful "hope breaks" during TV commercials. I also keep a stash of Morgan's books on hand to give to hurting parents. He offers practical help, godly counsel, and shifts the focus on the Father in the Prodigal's story. His watchful eye doesn't shy away from the pigsty phase because His waiting heart is already making preparations for the WELCOME HOME party!
Thank you, Mr. Morgan, for writing this book. The prayers speak the words that I can't seem to come up with on my own...but they speak what is in my heart. When I read them, peace washes over me and fear and panic no longer dominate my heart and mind. If you have a prodigal child, you know what I mean. There are also stories of encouragement that speak straight to my momma-heart. I have already ordered another one to give a friend and I'm sure it won't be the last.
This little devotional book has been an excellent source of encouragement that gives me a boost of encouragement everyday and has taught me how to decree and declare otter scriptures over my prodigal. At times these little nuggets of hope have lifted my spirits and gave me something to hold onto when I felt like sinking. I purchased the kindle version so that I could read it on my iPhone every night before I go to sleep or sometimes during my prayer time in the morning or evening. I read it through once and going through it over and over again as a daily spiritual vitamin to keep my mind on the hope of Gods promises.
Robert Morgan has directed parents to the true hope for peace. God is more than able to reverse the destiny of our children. This book is a easy read. So glad I decided to order this book. There's many self-help parenting books. This book is complete within the pages of wisdom
This book brought me a lot of insight and a lot of comfort. Some of the things that he says I never thought about before he brings so much truth to you if you are a parent of a prodigal this is a must-read.
My wife has read and re-read this devotional book for almost 8 yrs under the older title. It's helped greatly through some challenging times. We bought 12 books to pass along to other parents with prodigals and I bought in ebook. Highly recommend.
