I will admit that economics has never been my strong suit. Many of the concepts seem to be over my head. So, while reading Theft is Legal, I truly appreciated the simpler terms and examples that Mr. Elenkov used. I was particularly struck by his thoughts on those in need. I totally agree that instead of handing them something for nothing, we should help them become self-sustaining. I understand that there are those who truly cannot work due to disability, illness or age, but many who are being assisted by the government can and by helping them be productive, there would be a significant chance that the legacy of chosen dependence on the government being passed down from generation to generation would decrease, if not cease entirely because there would be no choice in the matter. Those who receive welfare because they are truly in need would welcome the chance to become self-sustaining.I also thought his example of making more affordable cars by limiting government regulations in order to aid in self-sustainability was interesting. The idea as I understood it was that instead of making all cars be up to government safety regulations by installing air bags, seat belts, etc., there should be some cars available without these safety features in order to make the cars more affordable for those who cannot afford the other ones. This would allow those people to have transportation that would help them be more productive which would allow them to eventually be able to buy one of the cars with all of the safety features without being in complete debt. It's a very interesting theory.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that is interested in economics as it was an interesting read.I received a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. I didn't know really what to expect from the book Theft Is Legal as the book description talked about America's economic crashes that the country has experienced and survived. As I am from the UK I really do not pay attention to things like that in the news and have no clue what it is all about if I hear about it anyway. I was really surprised with his book as the author Svetoslav S Elenkov explained things that would normally go right over my head in a way that I could understand them.The author starts his book by talking about hyperinflation, where he was going to school on a Monday morning and his dad gave him 20 leva for a pastry but when he goes to buy the pastry the price of it is 25 leva. So the next day he is given 40 leva but the pastries have gone up again and were now 50 leva. His dad keeps giving him more money every day but he still does not have enough leva to buy a pastry. By Friday the pastries had gone up to 1000 leva now that is hyperinflation. The book also explains capitalism and socialism and different scenarios.In fact for a book I thought would not be my thing I found it very interesting and I learnt a lot from it.I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. This was a pretty interesting read. We’ve often heard of American economic crashes and crises, but this book puts things into a different light. Svetoslav Elenkov, describes for us what a true collapse would look like and how it is caused by his personal experiences. He also discusses how to prevent these disasters in our own lives as well as ways to survive them. This was a pretty interesting read. There were no technical terms to get lost in, just plain English, which also made it a very quick book as well.
