Well... this is a nice little book of traditional fatherly advice, though there is not much new or unique here. So this is my first Jim Rogers book, it’s short and sweet and as a father of two I found some of the ideas (be a global citizen, learn history, philosophy, languages etc) thoughtful and appropriate to share some with my children. While I do agree with much of Mr Rogers advice here, these ideas are not new and I supposed I had hoped for more unique insights. At the same time, I do enjoy the simplicity of his writing style and am curious enough to invest in his other books
There are not any other financial books that I read that touch my soul. I Know it sounds crazy, touch my soul. But when you finally hear the truth and you know it will make a positive change in your life, AND the lives of your children. You are touched.I love the authors other books, I'm a little bit of a Jim Rogers Fan, But A Gift to My Children: A Father's Lessons for Life and Investing. Really moved me, as parents we are all so busy, but trust me if you read this book and listen, It will do great things for you and your family now and in the long run.
Good book..Every parents must have...Nothing is new in this..Age old underrepresented values are brought to surface, emphasized and put together with structure and intense emotions , which will inspire us to teach it to our kids. Teach finance and moral values to our kids from very beginning.
Jim reveals in this book.I have read every book he has written because he is unlike typical investor and gives insight to future opportunities.
This is a great book! It's advice from someone who not only has had great success as an investor, but also seen more of the world than anyone else.I like Jim Rogers' advice and anecdote on being a self-starter. It's something I think about from time-to-time when I feel like I have nothing to do. I have begun studying Mandarin (as he recommends). If he's right about China, which I think he is, then anyone who can speak the language will have a huge competitive advantage going-forward. I also appreciate the fact that he thinks studying history and philosophy are worthwhile. It's nice to know that someone as accomplished as himself appreciates a degree that's not business.As much as I enjoyed this books, I'd like to give a heads-up that this books is nowhere near as good as Adventure Capitalist, Rogers' book on his adventure traveling the globe (and one of my all-time favorite books). However, it is still a fantastic read and gives you lots of food for thought. Highly recommended!
The writing is very easy to follow and there are lot of great advice that all parents should read and talk to their kids about. Having the international mentality, see the world through your own eyes and form your own judgement are some of the key takeaways I learned for myself. I think wisdom shown here in this book will be relevant for generations to come.
