A “must-read” if you want to take a quick and far leap forward on the subject of Business Sustainability and Profitability.Mr. Bragdon has found the managerial patterns (across different sectors and countries) that successful companies have (Sustainably and Financially speaking).He connects these patterns into 5 properties or qualities, which are thoroughly explained using inspiring real business cases.His narrative is that of a Systems-Thinker, skillfully embedding many concepts together (from the next step in evolution of businesses, qualities of thriving companies, to spiritual business intelligence).What you read in this book, is what business people so much needed to hear, the missing piece, to move forward toward real sustainability (or regenerative businesses). His findings help bring together Sustainability activists and Sustainability skeptics alike, to the same table, with a clear pathway to grow towards.

With the numerous case studies and a brief conceptual introduction and close, this book will be useful for readers who are engaged in corporate revitalization -- for profit, non profit and even governmental organizations. I read it in light of my work in the insurance field. I am taking away from Bragdon's book ideas that I immediately see a valuable. An example is the idea that the corporation works best in a networking way -- internal networks and external networks. I would give the book five stars if it had a more indepth critique of conventional profit maximizing practices, but many readers might find that of little importance.

At a time when Global Corporations have earned themselves a very negative reputation for their self-seeking and predatory ways with scant concern for morality or ecology, Jay Bragdon has analyzed seven major companies (all heavy-hitters in their field) whose visionary leaders have chosen the path (less trodden) of a just and humane approach to business while demonstrating an exemplary care for the environment.The fascinating conclusion of this study is that it reveals that, in all cases, this new approach has yielded extraordinary results.
