Another amazing hit for my 1 year old. I’m glad I discovered these, I love these cute 5-6 page small board books in a carry case. Perfect for travel and my child is obsessed with the easy to look, read and interact!I love all the different subjects they hit, especially emotions, time and body parts! I turned around and purchased the Pixar version right after! We love love love these and perfect for little hands!Don’t hesitate especially if you child is a book lover. Easy to store and pick up.I could tell by the photos these weren’t full size so the people who complain make zero sense in my opinion. I wish I would have had this when my daughter was 10 months and started her book obsession!

My husband and I read books to our 12 month old son every night. He got a similar book block set for his birthday and he liked it so much that we decided to get this set too. Unlike the other set, this one is much more simple in the sense that each page only has one word in it. Which is perfect for his age as he gets bored quickly and likes pages to be turned at a good pace. And the picture styles are also more simplified. Think I prefer the more detailed pictures of the other set but the simple books on this set are great too. Love that there are 12 in a set. Perfect as a gift too!

There are only five pages per book and the books are WAYYYYYYYYYY smaller than your average small board book. Some of the choices for shapes/foods/other items are very odd.

All of the books are good, except one. The how do you feel is printed upside down and is actually the animal book. Very disapppointing :(

These are the perfect first books for babies. The books are very small board books that they can hold easily. The pictures are bright and colorful. There isn’t much information in the books but it gets babies use to liking books.

These are so cute. Well written for parents and fun for young kids. Include a wide variety of new and old Disney characters. I gave this as a gift and the parents loved them. Highly recommend these for any Disney fan. They are board books.

This book could not have come at a better time for me. I'm a 43-year old Brooklyn yuppie with one 2.5 year old son and it is getting to be time to fish or cut bait on having a second kid. In discussions with my wife on this question I've articulated a notion that the decision should be based on whether it will make our lives better, not whether it will make our son's life better. I figure that while his life will certainly be different if he has a sibling, it will not necessarily be better or worse and thus the decision should be made from our perspective, not his.Sandler basically proves this correct. By taking us through the data, Sandler reveals that singletons lead perfectly good lives (on average) and any notions to the contrary are stereotypes. Indeed, if anything the data would indicate that they may even be better off than kids with siblings.So this does not solve my problem; Sandler cannot (and does not try) to tell me what is right for my life. I still need to decide whether having more kids would improve my life, and I admit to also thinking about the possible person who might not be if we decide to stop at one. But after reading this book I am totally confident that my existing son will be just fine either way and that I don't have to feel guilty if we don't provide him with a brother or sister.

It took me several years to make a decision about my family size, and I enjoyed reading books like this one along the way. You get a lot of crap when you only have one, and it's easier to make the right decision when you have a chance to see actual data. Most people have kids without even thinking about why they're really doing it or why they're having as many as they do. It's a huge, life-changing decision every time you bring new life into the world! I don't understand *not* taking time to really think about it and question why you're doing it in the first place. I'm glad I paused long enough to question the status quo of "if you have one, you should have two." It's a lifestyle choice. Not so you can have a "tiny adult" or "be selfish" or whatever other nonsense people say. I have one, and I don't want to have more and split up our resources.Also...women are told we can "do it all"... but that's a myth. Something has always gotta give. And it all gets more difficult with each additional child. Women are expected to sacrifice everything (like our careers or childhood dreams) when we start having children, then when our daughters grow up, they're expected to follow in our footsteps and basically do it all over again in order to be "good moms". What's the point of sacrificing so much to raise my daughter so she can "reach her full potential", just so she can give everything up in order to have whatever number of children society deems acceptable and continue the cycle of self-sacrifice? I'm not buying into this. I want to model a different way of living and for me that means doing what I love while also raising *one* child.

The following quote sums up this book nicely for me:"Children are a desire, not a calculation. Which is why I believe that if you truly desire more than one child, you'll make it work. People always have. And if you don't, well, there's a big stack of numbers on your side. If we're going to be rational about it, surely the economic verdict suggests we should stop at one."As another reviewer stated (and also in my own experience), this topic can be controversial, and Sandler doesn't pretend to be objective. Rather she takes a side on the issue, arguing that one child is better for her, better for her child, and better for the environment. Personally, for now, I agree with her. I don't believe that Sandler is trying to dictate that everyone should have one child (based on the quote above), rather I believe she is making a very direct argument to refute the stereotype of only children as lonely, selfish, and maladjusted.I also would have preferred Sandler to write the book more along the lines of "only children are just as good as those with siblings", but I can understand why she didn't. It feels like the stereotype of only children is so entrenched that to prove only children are just as ok as those with siblings, you almost have to prove they are better. Similar to how women in traditional male-dominated careers have often had to be better than men to simply receive the same recognition and advancements.I have had firsthand experience with the ingrained stereotype of only children, from strangers and friends alike. When a friendly stranger asked if I plan to have another child and I said no, she literally told me 3-4 times I would change my mind, I wouldn't want to do that to my child. I also have had people I like and respect imply that to raise my only child not to be selfish; I would simply have to be a better parent than 90% of other parents of only children. While it was meant as a compliment to my parenting skills, it's heartbreaking to have someone I trust suggest that (1) I have put my child at a disadvantage right off the bat and (2) I will have to work harder than everyone else to fix that disadvantage.And that exact heartbreaking feeling is why I can also understand other reviewers' vehement criticisms of Sandler's work, because she directly argues only children are better. None of us like to think that we aren't giving our children the best in every way. As parents of only children, we cringe when others imply we are supposedly "selfishly" withholding the absolute best thing we can do for our child by not providing them a sibling. I can only assume that parents of multiple children cringe when Sandler points out that quantifiable, documented, research has shown time and time again that only children benefit from their parents undivided time and financial resources by scoring higher (albeit only slightly significantly) in areas of achievement, motivation, and personal adjustment. Thus it is likely that this book will continue to either receive high praise or deep scorn from most reviewers.My own personal take-away from this book, is that overall being an only child (or a parent of one) is no better or worse than being in a family with siblings. Each has their own set of challenges, and their own benefits. It is really none of my business to judge anyone else's family size, and I know I have changed my reaction to larger families as my sensitivity has grown. I found this book deeply reassuring as a parent of an only child, and I can only hope my review will raise awareness among those in larger families that only children are just as great as everyone else.*ARC provided by the author for an honest review.

This book was a weight off my shoulders in relieving any guilt I might have had, as the author pointed out many benefits for both the parents and the singleton to keeping the family with only one child.The book was enlightening and easy to read. It's not to say that having more than one isn't good, but it definitely shows that having only one can be awesome, too. The stereotypes of only-children are flawed, but not only that. Singletons are becoming the norm. In fact, many Gen-Y-ers are planning only one, if any at all, based on the limited research I've read.

He doesn't need a graphic designer, but an interview with Ella herself regarding her parents' deaths. Ella was told it was an accident, but Alec claims it was murder. It throws her world into turmoil. Which story is correct? And why can't she sense Alec? Adding to her inner conflict is worry over being unable to sense him, and wanting to be around him because it's what she imagines being normal is like. I really enjoyed this read. The mystery part was exciting, but what fascinated me most was the exploration of synesthesia and how the characters would function differently given their unique manifestation of it. I feel the author researched this in-depth or she knows several synesthetes. The writing drew me in. Chapters sometimes switched perspectives, but each chapter is prefaced with the name of the person it follows, so there is no confusion. I loved the two main characters. CJ is a wonderful writer. I love all her books. This one, I didn't realize was a YA, until I got into it. I do read YA.Synesthesia is an interesting phenomenon. I've heard about it, so I wanted to read about it.Ella is being raised by her gram and uncle. When a boy from her childhood comes along to ask her questions about her parents death, chaos ensues.All of CJ's books I read in one night, I didn't with this one. However it was compelling. I recommend it highly.

I usually really enjoy CJ Lyons but this seemed a little on the young side for me. It was a good story and I feel that the author played out both sides of synesthesia, those with it and those proclaiming to have it. It was a pretty good twist to it that I didn’t necessarily see coming (at least not all of it). The only thing I really didn’t like was how obsessive Alec was in his search for what he thought of as the truth of the mystery to be solved. He also wasn’t very likable through most of the book, he was too busy apologizing for all of his screw ups. It also kind of slowed down for a while but I finished it and was satisfied with the ending and found it believable.

This book was intriguing at first but lost its steam about 1/4 way through. It’s way too far fetched and the “plot twist” was so ridiculous. Someone else said there was barely any lead up and everything happens so quickly which is true. The tone of the writing was very depressing. It was an easy read due to short chapters but I’d definitely have to say you can skip this one.

As a grandma I am pleased to fi.nd that good books are still being written for young adults and can be enjoyed by the older reader.

CJ Lyons knows how to tell a story so you do not want to put her books down. This book was no exception. I loved the use of seeing colors, tasting words and hearing feelings that each character represented.The mystery wasn’t hard to decipher, but to me the characters drove the storyline with their uniqueness.A dedicated reader and fan of CJ

Wow this is a great read. I've never done so much goggle on a book. This is a must read for the everyone. Really makes you think 🤔

I chose 5 stars because the story captured my attention from page one. The unusual disease was intriguing, add in the teen friendship trio, and cap it off with a mystery. Absolutely amazing.

Reading this book was a journey for me. Hell, even getting this book was a journey for me. I was fortunate enough to discover Megan Falley in a poetry slam at SUNY New Paltz several years ago. When I heard about this book, I was delighted. I preordered it immediately, and waited anxiously, getting nervous each time Amazon sent me an e-mail saying they were trying to track down my (yet unreleased) order, and did I still want them to ship it? Yes! Of course I wanted them to ship it! Finally the book arrived. Everything perfect- from the cover, to the praise, to the dedication, and most importantly (or is it?) to the poetry itself. Megan Falley is the sort of writer who can pull you in, there are twists and turns, and you're wondering both where you will wind up and where you HAVE wound up. With this book you don't go through the motions- you go through the emotions. I must admit, however, that the real power in some of these poems is hearing them in the writers own voice. I highly encourage you to check this woman out either before or after reading the book for a heightened experience.

For the better part of my life, I have found myself enamored by the art of poetry - over-turning every corner of second-hand book stores and amazon reviews for the next collection to read front to back and to add to my extensive collection. By chance, I came across the work of Megan Falley and was beyond impressed (and these days, that's a hard feat to accomplish). Once receiving the book, I read it in its entirety in one sitting... then I read it again... and again... and again... I read it until the words became tangible enough to hold in my mouth, and I savored the taste. Still, this is a collection unable to fully satisfy; its command of language so beautiful that one would never be able to get enough. I am happy to say that I am still re-reading and I don't plan on stopping any time soon."After the Witch Hunt" guides its readers through a dance of vulnerable honesty, pulling one into a truthful account of life in all of its beauty and all of its downfalls. Falley, however, does not leave one without hope and powerful faith of something bigger. Falley has created a masterpiece in the form of a debut by Write Bloody Publishing, and I look forward to future wonderful works from this talented poet.

After the Witch Hunt is an incredibly accomplished work and considering how young Megan is, it stands as a testament to just how far she can go as a writer and as a performer. She writes from places most people are afraid to go and she does so with conviction, integrity, and most importantly, a sense of play that makes reading her works so engrossing. Even in the darkest moments of her writing, there is a sense of palpable "pleasure" in the way she confronts them. I struggle to find the right word to describe it and "pleasure" certainly isn't the perfect choice but what I mean is that when she addresses the pain and/or subjects behind her poems, she does so with obvious strength and I imagine being able to do so with a form she has such love for must have helped her further own that pain.I'm sure her writing has and will continue to inspire others who may otherwise be fearful of putting pen to paper about that which makes them afraid.With that being said, there is much joy in her writing and her love for the people most important to her is obvious which is an admirable trait for any artist to have.I think my favorite is 'This is a letter To The Women Competing on E! Entertainment's Hit Reality Television Show: "Bridalplasty"'. It is handled with an appropriate balance of compassion, subtle rage, and a sense of understanding towards the women it is addressed to.She's a tremendous writer and a force to be reckoned with and I look forward to her next collection.

Megan Falley's "After the Witch Hunt" was, by far, the best collection of contemporary poetry I have read so far. She has a fascinating way of telling stories of horrible people, but in a way that makes them seem more human and just as damaged, and that makes us feel like these horrible people are, in fact, ordinary people. Falley took the words right out of my mouth in many cases while I struggled to express what I feel about things in my life, and that alone was enough of a relief to make me break down and cry in the middle of a large crowd. She is isolating, but comforting. Sex and sexuality becomes more of a delicate, yet resilient, thing that becomes less of a looming taboo topic and more of an everyday thing that everyone can tackle. Better yet, I can hear Falley's voice in my head, reading these poems to me, rather than my own voice attempting to recite someone else's feelings, so I can still empathize with the themes at hand. This work is a strong example of forward-thinking feminism, where the woman is free to be a woman, and the man is free to be a man, both acknowledge the independence of the other, and both are guilty of wronging the other.TL;DR: Wonderful, beautiful book. If you're on the fence, buy it anyway. You won't regret it.

This collection of poetry is truly a staple to every woman's bookshelf. A love poem to every woman who has ever been hurt, the writing done by Megan Falley is chillingly original and empowering. She truly gives voice to all those who ever felt powerless and by the end of it all teaches us strength and how to find beauty in an unrelenting past. She is a true vision and a great example to how to personal is political. Un-apologetically honest and truly brilliant. Poems you could read over and over and never grow tired of the carefully chosen words that can truly send chills down your spine. Her writing has a life of it's own.

Hands down one of my favorite books, poetry and otherwise. It literally gave me chills.

I mean no disrespect to the author in this review. Dedicating your life to the betterment of young people by any means is a worthy and noble cause. That being said, the very title of this book is contradicting. The information in this book is by no means how "modern soccer" is coached, at least outside of the United States. I would argue that this position specific, technical centric approach to coaching is what is crippling U.S. soccer. The author writes, "But we, as coaches, seem to get sidetracked with the other aspects of the player's game like how they fit into the tactical system of play, when we could be doing more to help them." Developing a player's understanding of a tactical system of play is getting sidetracked? This is exactly what we should be coaching through Rondos and progressive positional play exercises that develop the cognitive abilities of our players as well as their skill development. Isolated and/or position specific "drills" that have little contextual relationship to match conditions aren't developing our players' cognitive abilities because soccer is more than the sum of its technical parts. The author cites Cristiano Ronaldo's individual development at Manchester United as an example of how position-specific training can elevate a player's game. This example is misleading in that Ronaldo arrived at Manchester as an elite athlete. The training he received their only served to fine tune his skills. The youth soccer coach, assuming that is the target of this book, needs to focus on developing a team of players who recognize the multi-directional collection of angles and space and execute their game within that space at match speed. There is absolutely a need for individual skills development but much of that development will occur naturally within a cognitive approach to training.Again, no disrespect to this author but this is not modern coaching. This is the same technical centric approach to coaching that has kept the U.S. in the proverbial dark age of soccer development. I'll stop short of endorsing my chosen methodology but if you are a youth coach in the U.S. ready to make a paradigm shift, I urge you to do your research. Search for Johan Cruyff, total soccer, geo cognitive soccer, Todd Beane. If you're genuinely devoted to developing your players to their full potential, you'll know it when you find it.Good luck. The future of U.S. soccer is waiting.

Detailed insight on each position and what is required for the modern game with excellent training sessions for each position. I enjoyed the quotes from top players and managers in the game. And most importantly, explains how to bring all pillars of the game into each position. Technical, Tactical, Physical and, Mental.

Fantastic book! Gary breaks down the responsibilities and training needs of every position in a clear, concise manner. I highly recommend this book and Gary Curneen if you're a coach or player who wants to learn more about modern soccer training methods!

Another coaching gem from Coach Curneen! This is book is a must have in every coach's library. Both new and experienced coaches will benefit from reading this and his previous book.

This book was great, I do 1-on-1 training as well as team. But this book gave me more ideas and spins to put on my current 1-on-1 training as well as implementing specific positional training within my teams.

A "must buy" for any soccer coach. This book will help motivate and inspire!
