I wish I had this book when I was in college. Chris guides reader on how to mathematically solve mechanics problems. In doing so he explains the underlying concept. I believe this approach gives reader some sort of "feel" toward mathematical equation. This in the end will develop mathematical intuition in problem solving rather than just simply plugging in formula. The only reason I give 4 stars is due to lack of diagrams.

This is the real deal. She is a gifted medium for sure but what separates this book from all of the others I have read is the high standard she hopes to set for mediums. Yes, you can talk to those that have passed over, but she shows you how to get critical facts from those that have passed so that you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are indeed speaking with their loved one. She believes it's imperative for mediums to have the highest standards. I will say it is not easy at first as they want to tell you what they want and you are so amazed that they are talking to you that you just blurt it all out to the sitter. But I do believe that if you practice and formulate a detailed way of communicating with those energies that they will begin giving you the info that you request. Namely, their name, age when passed and how they passed and then you go on from there with the confidence that you are dialed in with them and have a great connection. And in the end, doing that makes the communication stronger between you and the souls that have passed over. This is a great book by a gifted medium and teacher.

I'd give this book 10 stars if I could. If you're a medium in training or just realized that you have mediumship ability this book is a MUST in your library. The author Janet Nohavec clearly details what mediumship is and how to better your communication skills. She has a number of exercises in the book, that I've been doing and have been really effective. She also shares some stories about readings and how we can also better communicate with those that come for readings or a message. I was very moved by this book and Ms. Nohavec's dedication to helping through Spirit. I wasn't able to attend her class at Lilydale this summer, but I do plan on taking one of her classes ASAP.

She explains concepts I have heard a million times but it never clicked until I read it in her words.I could feel her authenticity and her essence as I read this book as if she were talking directly to me.Quite amazing.Very enlightening book , way above the norm for this subject.Thank you

I have visited Janet Nohavec for a personal reading 4-5 times over the past 15 years. She is truly amazing and her "gift" is real. Events she foretold proved true and circumstances she described were precise and accurate. This book describes how one can tap into his/her own ability to reconnect with those who have passed over to the other side. There are exercises to practice and theory to utilize. Personally, I am going to try to hone my ability to reconnect with my loved ones. This book reaffirmed my belief that we do not die, we merely move to another vibrational level.

As a medium trying to understand what's going on, i found this book to be EXTREMELY helpful! I've read a LOT of books on mediumship, and this one HANDS DOWN is one the more solid reads. Great for beginners, quick and fluid read. Definitely would recommend to anyone just starting.

Janet Novahec is the real thing. In England spiritualist churches are much more common and mediums give evidential information so that people understand that life is continuous and perhaps bring a loved one through who wants to say "I'm sorry." This type of mediumship heals relatioonships and lives. It's not about psychic predictions but much more valuable that when most spiritualist churches in America offer. This is the best book I've read on mediumship. It's well-written and provides a number of helpful exercises. What I like most is that Janet doesn't display her ego, as I have noticed many other mediums do in their own memoirs and guidebooks. Tyler Henry's Between to World's and this book are the best, in my opinion.

Janet Nohavec is an incredibly gifted medium. She is also a wonderful teacher (I was privileged to have experienced a 5 day workshop with her at Omega) and what she taught us was invaluable. This book is also. Where a lot of medium authored books are mainly recounting their experiences, this book is actually a "how-to" guide. If you draw action comics you should get this book. There's not a lot to say about it, if you seen these kinds of drawing books then you know what to expect. The thing about this one is the focus is on action posing and it's very good at showcasing how to create those dynamic action poses. I get what the book is trying to do, and it does it well, but what holds the book back for me is the lack anatomical breakdowns. I knows that it's not trying to be an anatomy book and it doesn't need to be, we have plenty of those but it could've focused up building up the individual pieces of anatomy and putting it together a little bit more. It feels like I got only the first part of something bigger.

If you want to know to how draw dynamic action poses for making a comic books than this book is highly recommended. It doesn't show anatomy drawing you must get a separate book for that. Overall this gives you proper insight to draw comics with dynamic features included a major example are fight scenes which are really cool. There are many cool looking sketches that can really catch your interest and some useful guides and techniques to help with you draw.

Just the discussion of Opus Anglicanum and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London reminds me of walking through that fantastic building and seeing wildly artistic needlework made hundreds of years ago before there were pattern books, when needles were literally worth their weight in gold.Just reading this book is interesting even if you never employ a single idea. It's both pleasant and unsettling to look at beautiful art and have to study the caption to make out the technique!Anything's possible. That's the best take-away from this book.

I've been eagerly waiting for this book to appear in my letterbox. It was delivered this morning and from the minute I touched it, I knew it was special. It's more than a book, it's really an art journal. The cover is a beautiful soft fabric, very velvet like and printed with the most beautiful scenes, which are detailed further in the book. The information is detailed, the pictures are stunning, the stories are interesting, the artists who have contributed to this book are generous with their descriptions of their work. I have only just begun with this book and I will devour it in due course. If I ever get the chance to do a Cas Holmes workshop, I'll do whatever it takes to participate. Her work in standout and so meaningful.

Beautiful work. The photography is well done, so the pieces show up well. An interesting range of artists work, along with Holmes. I bought this primarily for inspiration, and am very happy with it for that purpose. I've gone back to it a number of times, and have included some of the techniques in my own work. Very happy with the purchase.

I was so inspired by this book, that I did two 18 x 18 collages using paper and fabric, and free motion quilting.They turned out beautifully. I love this book....I have gone back and reread a few times already, and I just got it.fabulous!

A magical book that has wonderful examples of modern art stitching. There is some how-to as well, though that is not the focus. Cas Holmes, the author, is a wonderful British textile artist. Recommend this book for anyone curious about the art form.

I enjoy looking at this book a lot. I like the different techniques and ideas. I think it is the type of book I will come back to frequently just to peruse. I also have the author's book, The Found Object in Textile Art. If you liked that book, you will probably like this one too.

Book is done in a very good quality and big format. Cover is soft touch. There is a lot of information on fabrics, dyeing and stitching but there are no projects to do. All pictures are inspirational, but practically there is no value, such things are shown only on exhibitions....

About the Author

Charles Atkins, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist, published author, clinical trainer, and the Chief Medical Officer for Community Mental Health Affiliates. He has extensive experience working with individuals with a broad-range of co-occurring disorders, has been a member of the Yale clinical faculty, and is a past regional medical director for the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (CT). Dr. Atkins has written both non-fiction and fiction, including books on Bipolar Disorder and Alzheimer's disease, as well as numerous published novels.

This was an excellent read. I bought this book because I am studying for my CAADC and felt this book would a great addition to my resources. I was correct. It really broke down all of the disorders coupled with any drug you can think of. I love the case studies and how you were able to see the level of care and treatment needed per client for each disorder coupled with a substance issue. The book was not a heavy read and is loaded with excellent resources for further insight.

This was used as a textbook for a Dual Diagnosis class and will continue to be a go-to resource for me. I'd highly recommend it not only to those in the field but those who are interested in the topic as it's not a difficult read.

I bought this as a required graduate textbook. However, I have used it across classes as a reference. This book is very versatile in determining evidence-based treatment options for various disorders in a co-occurring SUD or singular context. It also provides a good primer for writing formal, co-occurring treatment plans for each disorder discussed. So far in my education this text has proven to be the one I use most frequently next to the DSM-V. The material is concise, user-friendly, and easy to digest. Thank you Charles Akins for your time and effort in this material and I have benefitted greatly as a clinician from this book alone.

This book is an easy read with a lot of important, valuable information. The author does a phenomenal job at helping readers understand the different disorders. I highly recommend this for students, professionals, people living with disorders, and loved ones. This book helped me understand my family members’ disorder and ways that I can be more supportive.

I recommend this book to clinicians. I am a counselor and also train others in the field. The book reflects DSM-5 criteria, and includes sections related to specific mental health diagnoses and related substance use disorders. I appreciated his perspective and insights into co-occurring disorders, including prevalence rates and background information. Well worth the purchase!

This is a clinician's "MUST HAVE" comprehensive guide for assessment and development of effective, collaborative treatment and recovery plans. Developed with his concept that "integrated treatment leads to better outcomes", Dr. Atkins provides the reader with a clear, concise overview on how to obtain necessary elements of information pertaining to personal, psychiatric, family and social history, substance use history, medical history, and collateral sources of information to complete a thorough assessment of treatment needs. He addresses stage of change and level of motivation, formulating observable and measurable goals and objectives for treatment plans, assessing for level of care, and how to integrate substance use disorder with mental health diagnoses; such as, ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, etc. He includes sample assessment tools and treatment plans that clinician's will fully appreciate as they are so well written and user friendly. Clinicians will love the simplicity of a beautifully written treatment plan with examples of "spot on" goals and objectives. Believe me, you will be borrowing these treatment gems!!! This is a fabulous, comprehensive co-occurring guide!!!
