I must admit, before getting my discus, I read almost everything I could find online about discus. This book was highly recommended so I bought it. I was looking for something amazing. I think my online reading covered most of what was in this book. If you want only the easy to get facts, this is your book. I was a bit shocked of what I got for the price though. I was expecting a much larger book for the price, but it's only about 1/8 of an inch thick. The pages aren't even numbered. If you google "discus" you will read a lot more and not spend anything.

Very basic. You can find anything that is in this book in a google search in two minutes. Not many pages, and they are large font. Looks like it was typed up in a few minutes in Word and bound in a book.

I must admit that I never found Discus any special from other aquarium fish, maybe because I prefer smaller species. However, I do like to keep myself informed by reading articles and specialized literature on the species and its habitat.In my view this book, written by a seasoned Discus keeper and accomplished breeder, is aimed at new and prospective fish keepers who wish to take up the hobby but for some reason are afraid to do so because of what they might have heard or read about Discus fish.With his tried and tested tips and concise information , the author appears to be striving to deliver his message that it is not so difficult to keep Discus, even in hard and alkaline tap water, though I'm sure that mixing with some r.o.or deionized water will most probably improve their well-being and breeding.I think that overall this is a good entry-level eBook on one of the best-known aquarium fishes in which I particularly liked the chapters on quarantine(and biosecurity) and breeding. In my modest opinion, the topics on health and water quality could have been explained in more detail, but this is maybe nit picking considering the affordable price.

GOOD BOOK. IT TELLS ALL ABOUT HOW TO DEAL WITH DISCUS FISH.

About the Author

Yvette Hutchison is a Reader in the Department of Theatre & Performance Studies at the University of Warwick. She is associate editor of the South African Theatre Journal and recently co-edited African Theatre 14: Contemporary Women (James Currey, 2015). Her AHRC funded African Women Playwrights' Network project (awpn.org, 2015-17) is using mobile app technology to create a virtual network of women theatre practitioners living in Africa with other artists, researchers and interested parties on the continent and beyond. Her research is considering the aesthetics contemporary South African women artists are using to address issues of gender and conflict.Amy Jephta is a bilingual Cape Town-based playwright and director with an MA in Theatre-making from the University of Cape Town. As a director, she was the first national recipient of the Baxter Theatre/TAAC Emerging Theatre Director's Bursary and is an alumni of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab in New York. She has worked as a mentor to community theatre groups based in Kwazulu-Natal as part of the Twist Theatre project, has been part of the South African New Plays Writing Programme at Wits University, and has been a voice and acting lecturer at CityVarsity in Cape Town and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. As a playwright, her work has been published in South Africa, performed at the Riksteatern in Stockholm and the Bush Theatre in London (on a grant from the UK Arts Council), where she is also currently undertaking a two year international playwriting residency with the Royal Court Theatre. She currently teaches bilingual acting to theatre and performance students at the University of Cape Town and is a conference director for the 2015 Women Playwrights International Conference.

What a powerful start to this book...just a glimpse into the incredible world that is Lauren and Gage.Lauren, who has mysteries of her own, crashes her car and is found by Gage as she is walking on the highway to the hospital. Gage. Does. Not. Do. Damsels. In. Distress...he ruined them! Although there is an immediate attraction, they clash as well. This is their story....This author truly knows how to use words to cast spells over her readers, I’m positive! Once you start reading, even when you know you have to do the adult thing and put the book down, it is so hard! The fantastic character and setting descriptions just suck you right in and you feel like you are there in the story, you know the people and can easily visualise each scene.Humour is threaded throughout that enhances the story, for example Lauren’s grandmother who is a pip! Here she is talking about Lauren’s grandfather-“...I would’ve ditched him the second I realized he had as much personality as a two-bit vibrator.”- 😂 Likewise there are plenty of heartbreaking moments when you feel those deeply too; that kick in the stomach, heaviness on your chest and gulp in your throat, another sign of a clever writer excelling at making the reader a part of the story.From the very beginning to the very end of this story you are taken on an epic journey, hang on and enjoy the ride, I did!

Battles of the Broken is such a fitting end piece to Anne Malcom's dramatic, soulful and emotional series that I had to pause before the Epilogue, not quite ready to say goodbye to the Sons of Templar.As much as I loved all the characters of the SOT family-I've a special love for Bull and Lucky in particular-it is definitely Gage and his "Will" that now have all of my heart.Their story is so raw; a measured evolution of love, both impeded and built by great pain and secrets and all beautifully portrayed by the author, who it needs to be said has truly evolved herself over the course of this series to become an exceptional storyteller and expert breaker of hearts, Anne's a poetic writer who has the ability to describe emotion in vivid colourful and painful detail.I'd been waiting so impatiently for Gage's story throughout this series from the moment he drew my attention, and he doesn't disappoint!He's equal parts devil, monster, alpha male and a$$hole wrapped up in a delicious scarred, tattooed muscular, broody and tortured package. Outcome = panties incinerated and heart shattered!!Lauren is a surprising enigma; a puzzle that reveals it's inner strength turmoil and utter beauty as the ordered, staid exterior is peeled away by Gage's love.She's quite the perfect soulmate for his beast and I just loved her transformation and woman she becomes for him in this story.Theres just so much to love in this gritty dark battle for love, and what a torturous battle it is!I'm in mourning now at it's ending.5 gloriously painful stars!

This book was bittersweet to read..it being the last book in the series had me wanting to read slower and make it last. But the thing about Anne Malcom's books is that they consume you in such a way that there is no possible way to slow down...and now that I'm finished(minus my fragile emotional state); I can honestly say The Sons of Templar Series will forever be one of my absolute favorites...Battles of the Broken was gritty, raw & real. The amount of emotional depth and the layers to both Gage and Lauren made this emotional roller coaster ride so worth it. Both L & G were broken by life in different ways; what they saw and felt for one another was immediate and their connection was intense. They saw each others demons, recognized their individual darkness but instead of running away from each other they ran towards each other; they fought for each other. This book will rip your heart out, stomp on it a bit and then put you back together piece by beautiful piece. I loved this book and I love this series so hard; do yourself a favor and stop reading this review and start reading Battles of the Broken...I promise you won't be disappointed💋

This is a tough review. I so wanna love the crap outta this book. I love the Sons of Templar series. They’re addictive. Bull and Mia, hands down, one of the best MC stories available. I was so looking forward to Gage and his story. Gage didn’t disappoint. He’s a great, tortured character. And even Lauren is a fantastic character. Let’s be honest, we’re all tougher on the heroine in the story, and she was amazing. Complex, strong, forgiving. But the story, eh, I needed more. It just dragged in places. It was (I shudder) kinda boring. There’s too much instalove, broken mopey people, and soapboxing, and not enough storytelling. Show me, less speech-giving. I get battle of the broken, but I could use some more battle rather than so much broken. These are great characters with a weak plot. I miss Anne Malcom’s stories. I’m sure a ton of people will love this book, so give it a go. But don’t let this be your only AM book. 3.5 stars

I bought the entire collection of these folders that is available at the moment. They all arrived within a day of each other, as expected. New users may think they seem small but they are a very compact and inexpensive way to keep your coins organized. A great tool for the beginner or the experienced coin collector. Be sure to lay the binder on a flat, hard surface like a desk or kitchen counter when entering your coins and you should have no problems.

I've been buying Whitman coin books since I was a kid...These books hold up very well over time! I even have a couple of Whitman [penny] coin books that my grandfather started over 35 years ago, and the books are still in one piece. As long as you're working on a hard, flat surface with nothing else under your coin book, then you'll never have to worry about ripping out or punching through the back of your book. Yes, most of the coin books out there have tight cutouts for the coins... Forget the sore thumbs; I use the plastic "butt end" of an `ultra fine point' Sharpie marker to push in my coins. This method also makes it possible for my kids to push the coins in to the holes.TIP: I just learned (after buying this book) that quarters from 1964 and prior were made out of 90% silver, and are nowadays VERY difficult to find in rolls from the bank. I just bought a box of quarters from the bank (which contains 2000 quarters), and I didn't find a single quarter predating 1965! So if you're just spending fun time sorting coins with the kids like I am, you'll probably never end up using the 1932-1947 or 1948-1964 quarter folders. So you might want to think about how seriously you're going to search for these "silver" quarters before you buy this book.

The perfect book in a convienient size to hold my collection of quarters. These books have been around for a long time and I have always used them for my coin collections. Coins are easily inserted and don't fall out. Removing the coins takes a little more effort but I manage to get them out without any damage to the book.

Kid friendly. 10yr loves it & can organize his coins by himself. Thank you for making my life easier.

Thought I would like these but my coins are to nice to touch but these would seem great for kids or beginners

These books are great although sometimes the coins don’t actually fit in the designated holes. my daughter still loves to use them though

It took me too long to find this book. Being a devotee of Voltaire for many years while also devoted to the history and literature of 18th century France, I simply brushed aside the criticism of Rousseau by his contemporaries. A fault of mine to do so before investigation. This book has given me the full picture of the “Enlightenment” and now equipped with both sides of the story, I have drawn my own conclusion.Rousseau was taking courageous leaps into the inner world and was, as Mr. Damrosch suggested, the forerunner to modern psychology. The author has also taken a courageous leap to inform the reader of the total man, warts and all, and explained in depth the suffering Rousseau endured by breaking from the outwardly motivated thinkers of the Enlightenment. What Rousseau experienced through the portals of suffering was condemned and judged by those who did not understand his suffering to be their own. It is interesting Rousseau found Ovid’s words, “Barbarus hic ego sum quia non intelligor illus,” to be his belief. “I am taken for a barbarian here because they don’t understand me.” What is understandable is that for one to forge his way to individuality isolation is required. Isolation can sometimes cause paranoid states but, in the mid-18 century, this was not known, and many called Rousseau mad. I agree fully with Mr. Damrosch that Jean-Jacques was not mad. He kept writing, discovering, and finding his eternal moments. Reading this biography has allowed me to share a few of those moments.UpdateEighteen months after writing the above, I am ready to post my review. I have in that time read Confessions with scrutiny and I walk with Rousseau’s Reveries. I returned to the biography and reread my notes, especially the final pages where Leo Damrosch so eloquently describes those of us who, connected to the soulful and pioneering works of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, are his friends. I have found this to be true.

The author is an unabashed admirer, adorer and worshipper of JJ-Rousseau, which is a pity because he knows a lot about the man that he glosses or skips over because it doesn't fit in with his theories. He sentimentalizes the author's relationship with his housekeeper-mistress, for example. It is well known that she was a shrew who dominated him completely and, given the man's indifference to sex, spent much of her time getting sturdier bucks into bed. The main crime held against Rousseau is having abandoned her five children at birth, which caused general outrage when it was revealed, long after he had become the luminary of modern education and child-rearing. It is my belief that none of the five children he abandoned were his, that she had them all by other men and he didn't want them for the same reason that many men wouldn't want to be responsible in such circumstances. This does not justify his action, of course, but it does mitigate it somewhat! He never denied they were his, at least not publicly, but this was because he was afraid of the ridicule which would be heaped on him, and perhaps also out of loyalty to the mother. The author makes no mention, also, of Therese's carrying on with village swains during the time they were in England, which was well documented at the time. I think that these sordid facts make Rousseau more interesting and understandable, and help us understand how much there is of myth in the image later generations formed of him. Apart from this and the oppressively laudatory tone, it is a colourful and entertaining book and I read it with pleasure. The author is a bit wet behind the ears, though - just like all Rousseau-freaks!

Damrosch's biography of Rousseau is a fine piece of work--complete, readable and attentive to nuance and detail. It is said that a successful biography requires a sympathetic writer, one who respects and, hopefully, reveres his subject. This is not easy for the biographer of Rousseau, who was notoriously difficult with his friends. Suspicious to the point of paranoia, he always suspects plots and betrayals. Sometimes he is available, sometimes not. Sometimes he embraces, sometimes he avoids.Rousseau's first play was entitled Narcissus, or the Self-Lover, a subject that evokes no surprises from those familiar with his life and thought. A palpitating mass of feelings, with tears flooding from his eyes, he was, nevertheless, an extremely influential writer (for good or ill).Damrosch calls him a `restless genius' and that is as positive as Rousseau probably deserves. His life was far less eventful than the intellectual and cultural currents which flowed from his writings, but he felt its moments more deeply than anyone might reasonably expect and built a career on them.The book is a pleasure to read and it includes both contemporary illustrations and photographs taken by the author. The annotation is full, but done with a light hand so as not to impede the reader. My sole disappointment was the brief attention given to Rousseau's works. They are located within the scenes of his life and they are very briefly summarized but the focus of the book falls on Rousseau's life, not his thought and not his writings. The reader who wishes more information on the latter will have to seek it elsewhere, though the rudiments are spelled out here.This is a serious biography that will be useful to scholars but accessible for the general reader.
