Good value for money

Very thorough cruising information on the islands except it didn't say that it was published in 2005. Much of the information on the anchorages, warnings, etc. could be useless as they are 9 years old.

I just got back from chartering in St.Vincent and found that both guides (this and Chris Doyle's) benefit when used together.

I bought this book along with the Chris Doyle book. unfortunately THIS book is NOT IN COLOR. :( but if you cant buy the Chris Doyle book this has many b/w images to give you advice on harbor hopping the windward islands. I always like as much info as i can bring when your in the middle of nowhere. ie. the islands.

It probably won't replace Chris Doyle's book but it a worthwhile addition to your library. It is slightly larger and contains pictures and text not in the other book.

It looks like these guides are going to be a lost art as websites like Noonsite are taking over with on the minute information and user comments and ratings that cant be beaten by a single author and his book with deadline long past. But anyway: we loved the excellent writing that is full of information and entertaining details and episodes.

Before purchasing this book, I did a bit of research on the different guides available. One had a lot of advertisements, but was popular. It was more like a Frommers travel book. This one was written by the guy who actually used equipment relied upon by chartmakers for local depth soundings. You could tell by his "local" hints that he really took the time and effort to give you the insider's view. From recomming "Mr.Fantastic" (a local boat vendor who sold us delicious lobster), to recommendations on local restaurants at each of our island stops along the way, this book was fantastic. The black and white pages made it all the more authentic as not being overly commercialized. In each port he gave highly reliable waypoints which I fed into my Garmin GPS, and everything worked like clockwork. His depth soundings in the anchorages were highly reliable as well. Our crew of 6 sailors, all passionate for adventure in the Windward Islands, raved about this book. Other books were aboard, but this one quickly became the one that we relied upon. It was concise and to the point, and we really enjoyed using it. Accolades to Mr. Pavlidis. This is a winner!!

Excellent description of sailing the windward islands including all the information a sail boat captain needs to complete his cruise. Definitely recommended for all sailors.

After receiving the cookbook, I opened to two random pages to see what I can do to rescue dinner from the clutches of my SUPER-picky eater. The first recipe was vegetable and cashew-nut burgers. That will absolutely not fly in this house. I may have mentioned that my child is... picky. The next random page had an ingredient list of 16 different items. This does not meet my definition of "quick", as the title claims. In flipping through, I saw several risotto recipes, which are also not quick. The last time I attempted a butternut squash risotto, it took me two hours and my daughter refused to try even one bite of it.The cookbook has great recipes, just not "quick" recipes that "fussy eaters" "will actually eat".

The recipes sound tasty and perfectly fine... for someone not fussy about food. Here is the thing; the author assumed your fussy child likes things like rice, chicken, pasta etc. I have a super-picky four year old that does not eat meat, poultry, rice, pasta, soup and most veggies. I don't care what cutesy shape the chicken is cut into or breaded with, she will not eat it. So for us the book has been useless. I used several of this authors books for homemade baby food and loved them and I was excited to try this one so I'm disappointed.

Don't know how butternut squash risotto or vegetable and cashew nut burgers ever made it into a book like this! Should read the Not so fussy Eater's Recipe Book! Salmon on a stick isn't going to trick any child into putting it in his mouth.....I don't like writing such negative reviews, but there is nothing in here I would even consider attempting.

Great recipes

Perfect

I have one AK's original cookbooks and have enjoyed using it. I bought this one in the hopes that there might be some different recipes to try with my daughter who has ASD and oral sensory issues and is one heck of a picky eater. I can't say that there is that much difference. And so far my daughter hasn't tried anything that is newer. It could be that maybe I need a different approach and not only different foods.

Good book

I bought this book for my sister in law who has a picky eater at home; my brother! His eating habbits resemble the quisine of a 2 yr old. Although they laughed at the fact that a children's cookbook is neccessary to get him to eat his veggitables, but it's working!

This is a very inexpensive way to get started with your family research. I have decided to put-off subscribing to those expensive ancestry sites until I am at some point in dire need of their help. So far, I don't think I will need their help for sometime. This Unofficial Guide is not only a simply way to get started, but holds a fund of information for the novice. I have eight or ten books on the subject, and this is by far the most practical guide to use.

We can never be too complacent about our research and every chance to improve and find that important record must not be missed. This guide leads us to places not previously thought of and how happy I am to add this volume to my must have list.

This is a must have for those doing Genealogy on Family Search.org. Full of information i never knew. I strongly recommend this book.

Pretty basic. If you're new to FS, this is good, if you're experienced, its just refresher

This guide is well written, easy to follow and it has been a big help in using the site for genealogy. I seemed to be at the end for discovering new records but the book has given me new ways to search and discover.

This book is clearly written and information is easily explainable. This book is great for beginner's who are just starting their family history or for those who are not familiar with FamilySearch.org. However, this book provides little to no new information for those who are more experience with family history research and FamilySearch.org

Excellent book for the beginner using Family Search

Excellent resource to understand the intricacies of using the website.
